Helen: Versatile 2-Piece Dress-ing!
This wonderful strawberry colored cotton bouclé is perfect for the early Fall in Florida (year round too!!). The bouclé has a wonderful drape which enables the peplum to fall gracefully and not add bulk in an area it is not desired! But the drape would have also caused the skirt to sag - best remedy is quilting the fabric to the silk charmeuse lining. Pattern is self drafted.

Rhonda: I-didn’t-sew-it idea.
|
I put my invisible zippers on the left by size, then my regular zippers to the right by size. So easy to see what I have and to get what I want.
The curtain rod is very strong and sturdy, which you need because the rings are heavy. It was $6.97 before coupon at BB&B. The rod came with two hangers, but I didn’t want to screw anything into my wall. Instead I just used two over-the-door hooks to put the zippers on the back side of my sewing room door. No one else will even know they are there. 104 BLACK Curtain Ring with Clip $19.99 on Amazon

Jeanette: I made two skorts with matching visors this month. The easy skort pattern is the Shenanigans Skort from the online company "5 out of 4." The pattern has different options for skirt and short length, and rise. You can make a stand-alone gusseted pair of shorts as well. I ordered a pack of white visors from Amazon and glued on the matching left-over fabric.

I used to make terry cloth wash mitts for my children years ago. The pink one is the last one left in my closet to use for a pattern. Now I can make them for my grandchildren with an embroidery machine! The applique is terry cloth, too.
|
Maureen: I have two things to share.
The table runner is 44 inches long by 17 inches wide. The pattern is called "Easy Striped Table Runner" designed by Karen Montgomery from http://www.thequiltcompany.com. Yes, you need to buy fabric with a striped motif about 8 inches wide. The pointed end is formed by cutting two 60 degree triangles. I quilted it on the embroidery machine with an edge-to-edge quilting pattern. You can make one for every season. |
The blue item is a Bosom Buddy that Rhonda posted on Facebook. It's 14 inches long by 6 inches wide, and the center piece wraps around the seat belt. The printed fabric is a cushion to ride over the shoulder and breast areas for those who have had breast surgery or a chemo port. The cushion has two layers of Soft and Stable by Annie's which keeps the seat belt from digging in.
|
Pat: I bought a panel and matching fabrics to make this tote bag.
I made this is a book bag for my granddaughter using a larger zipper and adding the outside pocket.
Halloween placemats for 2 of my grandkids
|
I made these mug rugs using fabric photo paper to copy the snowman design.
This embroidered earbud case was made all in the hoop.
These toiletry bags are made with vinyl, which is wonderful to sew.
I started this 6’ tree skirt years ago and finally finished it.
|
The aqua and purple bag is a Midi Bag made with Quilt Smart foundation piecing.
My 4th of July panel goes with my series of holiday wall hangings.
I used styrofoam and wool strips to make the Christmas trees.
|
Loni: These "chef" panels had been in my ToSew pile for ages. What was I waiting for? Finally, job done!
|
Alongside those panels were random scraps cut from an ironing board panel that had long been replaced and forgotten.
Bright thimbles, spools, scissors were suddenly calling me. So, in my meager stash, I found some black cotton with colorful squiggles that could be imagined as loose threads. The straps are crossed in the back for my comfort fit, eliminating the need for D-rings. 'Bet you will see this at a sew-in someday.
|
Voilà! A Sewing apron was born! It has numerous pockets. I had been wanting a way to keep my phone handy, especially at sewing events.
|
Loni also showed a black shirt that she embellished with motifs from a Halloween panel. See pictures here: http://asgorlando.com/2020-october---asg-orlando.html
Vickie made an embroidered cat mask (Embroidery Library Designs), and Pumpkin/Halloween Mug Rug (Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery Designs) and Pumpkin Lace décor (ELD). She also made adult clothing protectors as part of the South Orlando Neighborhood Group service project.

Mary from Macon, GA: I attend the SEW CRAZIES meeting on the Monday in November while I am at a resort in the area. I usually bring my friend Claire from England. I will miss the Zoom meeting because sewing friend Claudia will be arriving at the airport. Claire and her Mum are isolated at home in England due to Covid.
I did some hand sewing in my breakfast room with Terrie, another ASG member who is making a large caterpillar. Happy sewing. |
